Community Engagement

Community Engagement

From Know Your Rights forums to our community office, BDS reaches beyond the individual people and families we represent to respond to the urgent and emergent needs of Brooklynites.

Since 2017, we have operated a walk-in Community Office in East New York. The BDS Community Office allows us to provide direct services to people who need them in the community in which they live. It also serves as a hub for client meetings where over one-third of clients reside.

We serve Brooklyn by providing information and referrals, advice and counsel, advocacy, legal representation, legal education and community workshops and by collaborating with community-based organizations as well as taking referrals from elected officials, nearby shelters, health centers and school staff. BDS hosts virtual Know-Your-Rights sessions, Facebook Live and Zoom-based legal education events, and other digital engagement tools to reach Brooklyn community members and beyond.

BDS has a Community Office in East New York.

Due to the pandemic, contact our Community Office through phone or email.
