Staff Attorney, Integrated Defense Practice
Mansi Thakkar is thrilled to join Brooklyn Defender Services and continue her work in the areas of racial justice, criminal justice and family law. Mansi has worked as a Staff Attorney in the Family Defense Practice since 2014 and currently works in the Integrated Defense Practice where she represents clients in both criminal and family court.
Prior to working at Brooklyn Defender Services, Mansi worked as a Staff Attorney in the Juvenile Rights Practice at the Legal Aid Society of New York, where she represented youth in juvenile delinquency proceedings as well as child protective proceedings. Mansi was previously on the Board of the South Asian Bar Association of New York, where she implemented a Pro Bono Clearinghouse Project that connected low-income South Asians in New York City to attorneys who could provide culturally and linguistically competent legal services for free.
During law school, Mansi also interned at the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, working in the Educational Equity and Youth Rights Project.
Mansi is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago and Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She is a proud Brooklyn resident.
