Senior Staff Attorney
Joe received his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he was an editor on the Law Review. He graduated cum laude in 1984. A career public defender, Joe started off in the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn. After 5 years he became a supervising attorney. He went back to a staff position in 1995, and joined BDS in 1996.
Joe is also an adjunct professor of law at St. John’s University School of Law, and has taught trial advocacy at Seton Hall School of Law and in the New York City Corporation Counsel training program. He has coached numerous law school trial teams.
Joe is fluent in Spanish and is a proud father of two.
