Laurita Rodriguez is a proud New Yorker from the Bronx. She received her B.S in Legal Studies with Political Science Concentration from Mercy College in 2011 and her J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law (RWUSOL) in 2016.
Laurita was a paralegal for five years before she decided to go to law school. During law school she was President of the Latino Law Student Association. Furthermore, she interned for the Legal Services of New York: Bronx Division where she assisted in the representation of people who sought legal representation in the area of employment and disability law. She also participated in RWUSOL Criminal Defense Clinic under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Horwitz where she represented individuals charged with misdemeanors in Rhode Island District Court. Her experience in the clinic solidified that she wanted to dedicate her career to criminal defense.
Laurita was a New York Pro Bono Scholar for the graduating class of 2016. As a New York Pro Bono Scholar, Laurita dedicated her last semester of law school working as a full-time extern at Brooklyn Defender Services after taking and passing the February 2016 Bar Exam.
While working as an extern at Brooklyn Defender Services, she was thrilled to accept a full time position in the Criminal Defense Practice. She feels extremely humbled and blessed to be a part of this amazing institution.
