Staff Attorney, Criminal Practice
Douglas O’Donovan was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and this city just can’t seem to get enough of him. Besides his undergraduate years in Binghamton University, where Doug received a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics, and law, Doug has called Brooklyn home for all of his life. After graduating Brooklyn Law School as a Pro Bono Scholar, Doug is delighted to begin his legal career representing the people of this fine borough at Brooklyn Defender Services.
As a strong believer that incarceration is an outdated model of criminal justice, and that our criminal justice system targets and disproportionately affects the poor, fighting to help those caught up in this system is exactly what Doug went to law school to pursue. In law school Doug interned throughout the Brooklyn court system, including spending the entirety of his final semester in law school as a Pro Bono Scholar at BDS representing indigent clients full time.
In his spare time Doug enjoys travelling, playing basketball, and watching the New York Mets disappoint him year after year.
