Paralegal, Family Defense Practice
Julian Montijo joined BDS in 2017. After graduating from Cornell University in 2015 with a BA in Comparative Literature and Economics, Julian lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he toured with an educational theatre company before moving back to Ithaca to work as a lab technician in medical entomology.
As a paralegal in the Family Defense Practice, he is responsible for assisting attorneys in drafting motions and speaking with clients as they navigate investigations and subsequent prosecutions by the Administration for Children’s Services. Additionally, Julian represents parents in fair hearings to challenge indicated reports with the State Central Register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR), which have vast consequences on future employment. Julian also serves on the city-wide SCR Practice Group, which works to improve advocacy for those seeking to clear their record and better provide for their families. Julian speaks Spanish and would like to continue in a career representing indigent and undocumented parents.
