Staff Attorney, Criminal Defense Practice
Sara Molinaro joined Brooklyn Defender Services in September 2015.
Sara first became interested in working as a public defender in 2008, when, as a student at Brown University, she interned at the Rhode Island Public Defender. Sara went on to graduate from Brown in 2009 with a BA in Public Policy & American Institutions, and a minor focus in literary arts and play writing. After spending four years working in political and nonprofit communications, Sara attended the CUNY School of Law, from which she received her JD in May 2015. At CUNY, Sara participated in the year-long Defenders Clinic, where she studied criminal defense and represented clients in Queens criminal court. She also served on the board of the Suspension Representation Project, which fights for the education rights of New York City public school students, and competed on the CUNY Moot Court team.
While in law school, Sara held summer internships with the Georgia Capital Defender, where she worked on death penalty cases, and with the Federal Defenders of New York in the Eastern District office. She also interned during the academic year with BDS and with the Juvenile Rights Practice at the Legal Aid Society.
A Bay Ridge native, Sara has spent the last fifteen years shuttling between London, Rhode Island, and Queens and is thrilled to once again call Brooklyn home.
