Supervising Attorney, Criminal Defense Practice
Susan comes to Brooklyn Defender Services after practicing criminal law for over 20 years. A graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook and California Western School of Law in San Diego, Susan was fortunate enough to begin her career as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the City and County of Honolulu in 1990. There she tried numerous misdemeanor and felony cases and successfully argued before Hawaii’s highest court of appeals.
In 1998 Susan started a private practice in Brooklyn which continued until 2011. As a member of the Assigned Counsel Plan for 13 years, Susan handled hundreds of criminal cases and successfully completed dozens of felony trials. Although her private practice included both civil and criminal matters, Susan found her criminal cases by far the most rewarding. She is thrilled to join the incredibly talented and dedicated staff at Brooklyn Defender Services and to be able to continue her criminal defense career full time.
