Staff Attorney, Criminal Defense Practice
Sharmeen Mazumder was born and raised in New York City. Before joining the Brooklyn Defender Services, she worked as an appellate public defender, first at the Center for Appellate Litigation, and then at the Office of the Appellate Defender, representing individuals convicted of felonies on their direct appeals and other post-conviction matters. Prior to that, she attended NYU School of Law, where she was a student advocate with the Juvenile Defense Clinic; there, she represented young people in delinquency proceedings in the Bronx. She also interned at the Criminal Defense Practice and Prisoners’ Rights Project of the Legal Aid Society. Sharmeen graduated from Wesleyan University in 2009.
