Social Work Assistant, Criminal Defense Practice
Haitian-born and Brooklyn native Medge Joseph joined Brooklyn Defender Service as the Social Worker Assistant in the Fall of 2017. Medge is an alumna of John Jay College (CUNY) class of 2017 with a degree in Gender Studies and a minor in Africana Studies. Her gender studies knowledge has exposed her to the vast tiers of disparities in numerous populations such as different ethnic minority groups, age groups and sexual orientations.
During her time at John Jay College, Medge participated in the #BLAST (Black Lives Against Standardized Testing) program. A program against standardized testing, aiming to give minority students a fair chance in achieving success. Her involvement in #BLAST sparked her interest in working in the community, for the community.
Medge has experience in assisting the community as an intern in a myriad of organizations, working and assisting in marketing and recruiting in multifaceted environments.
Medge is fluent in Haitian Creole.
