Director of Training, Criminal Defense Practice
Drawing on over 25 years of criminal defense practice experience, Ms. Hoff develops curriculum and oversees an extensive training program for all of BDS’ criminal defense attorneys, including recent law school graduates, as well as far more experienced attorneys who are beginning to handle felony cases, and for associates from major law firms working as volunteer attorneys in the Brooklyn Defender Services pro bono program. In addition to these formal training programs, Ms. Hoff directly supervises each attorney’s work during the first two years of criminal defense practice. She also works closely with our immigration unit in a variety of post judgement motions.
Ms. Hoff began her career at The Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division, where for 7 years she represented indigent criminal defendants in misdemeanor and felony cases and conducted numerous felony trials. In 1996, she joined Brooklyn Defender Services as a senior staff attorney and was later promoted to Supervising Attorney and Director of Attorney Training.
Ms. Hoff earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Juris Doctor at Indiana University.
