Staff Attorney, Family Defense Practice
Sarah was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in 2002, and then completed two law degrees – common law and civil law – in 2007 and 2008 respectively at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa.
Following law school, Sarah practiced criminal defense in Toronto for two years, representing clients on a range of charges including assault, sexual assault, child pornography, criminal harassment and fraud both at the trial and appellate levels. In 2010 she changed career paths and moved to Kabul, Afghanistan where for two years she provided technical legal assistance to the burgeoning criminal defense bar there. Afterward, she worked at private foundation based in New York, focusing on human rights research and advocacy in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Sarah joined the Family Defense Practice in 2017, feeling the pull to return to the practice of law and to provide services in the community where she lives.
Sarah lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two young children. She speaks French.
