Staff Attorney, Family Defense Practice
Khari A. Edwards joined the Brooklyn Defender Services Family Defense Practice in 2017.
Prior to BDS, Khari clerked for the Honorable James L. Jackson of the Superior Court of New Jersey – Family Part and held attorney positions at Northeast New Jersey Legal Services, the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New Jersey and BOOM!Health Legal Services. Khari graduated from Rutgers School of Law where she was a Kinoy-Stavis public interest fellow and represented clients in the Constitutional Litigation and Urban Legal clinics. While in law school, she worked at the Legal Aid Society, Legal Services of New Jersey and for the Honorable Verna G. Leath of the Superior Court of New Jersey – Criminal Division. She also taught incarcerated youth and ex-offenders through the Street Law program and coordinated services for the community at the Newark LGBTQ Center. Khari graduated from Temple University where she majored in African-American Studies and Film/Media arts. Khari has dedicated her life to becoming a zealous advocate for families and cannot think of a better place to achieve that goal than BDS. A native of Washington DC, Khari is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey.
