Stephen Dean has been with BDS as a staff attorney since February 1998. He received a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan in 1979. He received a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1983. From 1984 through 1986, he was an associate at Roth & Dean in Southfield, Michigan. From 1987 through 1993, he was a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division in Brooklyn, New York. From 1993 through 1997, he was a partner in the law firm of Menken & Dean, a general practice with an emphasis on criminal law, civil rights and employment discrimination litigation. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Michigan, both in state and federal courts.
