Staff Attorney, Immigration Practice
Scott joined BDS as a Staff Attorney with the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project (NYIFUP) in 2017. As a NYIFUP attorney, Scott represents detained non-citizens in immigration court. He is admitted to practice law in New York.
Before joining the NYIFUP team, Scott represented Unaccompanied Alien Child (UAC) clients and Adults With Children (AWC) as an Immigrant Justice Corps (IJC) fellow at Central American Refugee Center in Hempstead, NY. He began his legal career as an IJC fellow at Immigration Equality, where he represented LGBTQ and HIV+ immigrants in both detained and non-detained settings.
Scott received his JD from Harvard Law School, where he participated in the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic, International Human Rights Clinic, and Post-Foreclosure Eviction Defense Clinic. He also interned at Catholic Charities and Volunteers of Legal Service. Scott holds a BA and an MA in English Literature from Stanford University. He is from California.
