Staff Attorney, Family Defense Practice
Anequa Campbell joined the BDS Family Defense Practice in January 2015. Prior to BFDP she worked as a Legal Fellow at the Inner City Law Center in Los Angeles where she advocated on behalf of homeless veterans and veteran survivors of Military Sexual Trauma to access the disability benefits they earned.
Ms. Campbell earned her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center. While there, she interned as a Law Clerk with the Poverty and Race Research Action where she performed research and advocacy on Federal Housing Policy and housing mobility issues. She also interned with Community Health Advocates of New York where she focused on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and its impact on health insurance consumers in New York. As a 3L, she taught law and legal concepts to high school students as an instructor with Georgetown’s Street Law Clinic.
Ms. Campbell earned a B.A. in English with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from Columbia University. During her undergraduate studies at Columbia, Ms. Campbell gained a real understanding of how inequality manifests in marginalized communities, which ignited a passion in her to do public interest work and affect change. Ms. Campbell was born and raised in St. Mary, Jamaica, and immigrated to Copiague, New York as a teenager.
