Staff Attorney, Criminal Defense Practice
Johanathan Brooks joined Brooklyn Defender Services in the fall of 2015. Prior to joining BDS, Johanathan attended The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C.
While in law school, Johanathan was an active member of the GW community. He was a member of the criminal division of the D.C. Law Students in Court clinical program, a senator in the school’s Student Bar Association Government, a member of the Black Law Students Association, a member of the Criminal Law Society, a member of the Federal Circuit Bar Journal and a member of the GW Law Softball Club.
During law school, Johanathan was a summer intern at the Orleans Public Defenders in 2013, a community re-entry intern at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia in the fall of 2013 and a summer intern in the criminal division of The Bronx Defenders in 2014.
Johanathan is originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, but moved to metro Atlanta as a child. Johanathan returned to his home state for college where he attended LSU. While at LSU, Johanathan majored in journalism and was a reporter for the student-run newspaper, The Daily Reveille. He is a proud Tiger alum and avid supporter of the school’s athletic program. Following his graduation from LSU in the spring of 2010, Johanathan worked for the Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Mississippi as a sports writer.
Johanathan is excited to be a member of the BDS family and is proud to call Brooklyn home.
