Supervising Attorney, Integrated Defense Practice
Jeff Blank is a Supervising Attorney at the Brooklyn Defenders Services- Family Defense Practice. Mr. Blank joined the Family Defense Practice as a Staff Attorney at its infancy in July 2007. Mr. Blank’s persuasive litigation techniques, strong interpersonal client relationships and vast child welfare experiences led to his promotion to Supervising Attorney in May 2010.
Prior to joining the Family Defense Practice, Mr. Blank worked as an attorney for New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). Mr. Blank prosecuted abuse and neglect cases and represented foster care agencies in child welfare proceedings. Mr. Blank, to his credit, determined that direct representation of clients is his true passion. He identified the Family Defense Practice as an ideal setting where he can make lasting positive impacts for families adversely affected by the child welfare system. Mr. Blank prioritizes client communication and creative advocacy. His tough, but tempered, litigation style yield consistent results that strengthen families and limit government interference.
Mr. Blank attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law as a Civitas Child Law Fellow. He graduated in 2005 with a J.D. and a Certificate in Child Law. While at Loyola, Mr. Blank represented youth in child welfare and juvenile delinquency proceedings as a student clinician at the Loyola Child Law Clinic During law school, Mr. Blank held internships at the Legal Aid Society- Juvenile Rights Project in the Bronx (working on the Safe Families Project, representing youth impacted by domestic violence); Children’s Rights; and Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
Prior to attending Loyola, Mr. Blank worked as a child advocate at the House of Ruth, counseling and advocating for children affected by domestic violence experiences at a domestic violence shelter in Washington D.C.
Mr. Blank graduated from the University of Michigan with distinction with a B.A. in Political Science in 2000.
Mr. Blank currently sits on the New York City Bar Association Family Court & Family Law Committee.
